The Miracle of Dunkirk – 2-Day School Trip

2-Day Tour from £149 per pupil

In May 1940 during the Battle of France, British, French and Belgian troops found themselves surrounded by German forces in Dunkirk a port in Northern France. Facing disaster, Operation Dynamo was launched and, during an eight-day period, a remarkable 338,000 Allied troops were evacuated from the beaches.  This two-day school trip provides a fascinating insight into the Miracle of Dunkirk.

Day 1

Morning Departure from School to France by executive coach by Ferry or Shuttle

Arriving in the early afternoon you will travel to the Atlantic Wall Museum in Ostende. Here you will get the chance to see a very well-preserved part of the Atlantic Wall constructed by the Nazis between 1942 and 1944 as part of its defence against any possible Allied invasion.

As you make way to your residential centre, you will stop for a brief visit to the Dunkirk Town Cemetery. There you will find the Dunkirk Memorial which commemorates over 4,500 BEF (British Expeditionary Force) casualties.

You will arrive at your modern, well equipped residential centre (click here for details) in time for dinner.

Day 2

Join your coach with a packed lunch to make the short journey to Musée Dunkerque 1941. Here you will learn in detail the incredible story of how 338,226 Allied soldiers were rescued in eight days during late May/early June 1940.
